Sermon Notes: Praying for Others

His friends (1–11). Paul loved the saints in Philippi; he thought about them, prayed for them, and longed to see them. Christ made this fellowship possible.

Philippians 1:3‭-‬6 NIV

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

V3 pray often for others

V4 pray for their good

V5 we are in this life together

V6 God will complete His good work in us

Philippians 1:9‭-‬11 NIV

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,

  • Romans 12:9‭-‬12 NIV Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,

  • Romans 12:2 NIV Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
